202-Applique Iris Wallhanging

In this workshop, you'll create a machine appliquÚ wall-hanging in batiks using a combination of creative appliquÚ and decorative thread techniques on your sewing machine. The design is based on an original photograph of a Dutch iris grown in Annie's French Garden. Irises are Annie's favourite flowers, and I hope we can capture their fleeting beauty in thread and textile techniques. You'll start by constructing a simple machine pieced and quilted background using beautiful batik fabrics. We will then use raw-edge appliquÚ to create the iris design. It will be further embellished with thread couching, and decorative machine stitches, giving you an opportunity to explore various techniques. The finished wall-hanging will measure approximately 34 x 28 cm. Colours of batik used may vary from the illustration. All materials and full instructions will be provided in your workshop kit
